Videos beyond 4K will be delivered using the HEVC (H.265) video codec. Since support for HEVC playback only exists for newer generation devices and platforms, you’ll need to view them from specific hardware and software to view video qualities beyond 4K (e.g 5K, 6K, 8K). Note that we will only generate a 5-8K transcode if the creator uploaded it as an HDR video that has greater than 5K resolution.
In this article:
- Safari 11+
- Microsoft Edge 15+ (with supported hardware)
- Note: Chromium versions of Edge do not support above 4K
Supported Operating Systems:
- MacOS 10.13 High Sierra
- Windows 10
The following viewing environments are not currently supported for playback above 4K:
- Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera

If the content owner enables downloading, all playback versions will be available for download on desktop (in all browsers). To view it on your computer, you’ll need to use a player that supports HEVC playback. We recommend using the latest version of VLC media player.
