When creating a Live Event on Vimeo, you now have the option to have the event be a recurring event or a one-time event. Selecting a one-time event will allow your stream to have the exact same workflow and settings as previous live events on Vimeo. You can find more information about this workflow in our Vimeo Live Overview. Selecting a recurring event will allow you to stream to the same event multiple times, however, at this time, there are a few settings which are not available to recurring events.
When creating a recurring event, you’ll be able to select which days of the week the event takes place, set the time of day the events go live, and set the privacy for your live events. Currently, recurring live events are limited to privacy settings:
- Anyone can see this event
- Only people with a password can see this event
- Hide this event from Vimeo.com
We will be adding additional privacy settings for recurring live events in a future update. Once your event has been created, you will see the Live Settings Page, with nearly the same layout and options as one-time events.
The same three navigational tabs exist for recurring live events as for one-time events.
The Onsite tab contains a shareable link to this recurring event (including all future broadcasts), the option to enable/disable live chat, a drop-down menu to change privacy settings, and an optional description field.
The Embed tab contains both the Live Video Player and Live Chat embed codes. These embed codes are permanent, so once embedded, all future broadcasts to this recurring event will appear on the embedded site as well. You may notice there are currently no customization options for the recurring embedded player. We will be adding the many player customization options from the one-time event player to the recurring event player in a future update.
The Destinations tab contains our Simulcast feature. Here, you can adjust which social platforms and manual RTMP destinations your stream will be sent to once it goes live. For more information about Simulcasting with Vimeo, please check out our Simulcast Guide.
