Our stream health monitoring feature allows you to see how well your stream is performing in real time. The information displayed in this tool comes directly from our Ingest server logs, which is the first point of contact your stream has with the Vimeo Live back-end.

How to view your stream health
If you are streaming a recurring event via Vimeo, you can find the stream health indicator at the top right of the broadcaster page. Hover over the staircase icon to see the status of your stream connection.
If you are streaming via RTMP, or streaming a one-time event, you can find the stream health indicator on the upper right of the live settings page and preview page.
The indicator bar at the top displays one of the following statuses:
- Ready: When your webcam has been connected and you are ready to go live.
- Good connection: When your stream has connected (either through the browser, RTMP, or an integrated encoder) and our servers are receiving a stable frame rate/bitrate. (You can see this in the image above.)
- Unstable connection: When our servers detect more than a 15% drop in frame rate/bitrate from the intended configuration. This means there may be a problem with your network connection or encoder.
- Offline: When your stream has disconnected from our servers.
If you are streaming via an external encoder or streaming a one-time event, you can view graphs and metrics of your stream. On the left navigation bar of the Preview page, click on the Stream health icon to see more information about your broadcast.
Go to your stream metrics to view the data for your incoming bitrate and frame rate are displayed. The graph updates in real-time and details the changes in bitrate/frame rate over the last ten minutes of your stream.
Below the graph, you’ll find the bitrate, average bitrate, frame rate, average frame rate, and video resolution for your stream. These metrics update in real-time as well.
Please note: When screen sharing with the browser encoder, the bitrate/frame rate will show 0fps and 0kbps. This does not mean there is an issue with your stream. The screen share functionality within the browser encoder does not supply bitrate or frame rate data as other input sources do, thus there is no data to report in the graph. Once you end screen sharing and return to another input, the correct bitrate/frame rate will return.
Below your stream metrics, you can click Show Analytics to see additional information about your stream, namely Video codec, Audio codec, AVC profile, and AVC level. These inform you of your stream’s video and audio compression format (AVC stands for Advanced Video Coding), and the Session ID is a unique string that identifies your stream for Vimeo.
