Splitting scenes will allow users to cut a scene at a specific desired moment to shorten part of one scene and make a second entirely new scene.
The scene types that can be split are:
- Title scenes
- Image scenes
- Video scenes
Cutaway scenes cannot be split.
Note: The new scene must be longer than 0.5 seconds.

Web
Split scenes can be found while editing an individual scene. To split a scene, click on the scene to split and click on the Timeline button.
In order to split a scene, drag the needle anywhere in the scene and click on the Split button. The scene will then be split into the remaining segment from where the needle was dragged till.
Splitting Scenes with text & stickers
Keep in mind when splitting a scene with text and/or stickers in it that their placement may be impacted:
- If the scene has a text box or sticker running through the entire scene, the text/sticker will be shown in both scenes after the split.
- If there are multiple text boxes and stickers in the original scene, their appearance in each scene after the split will depend on where you split the scene and also how long they are shown in the original scene.
Mobile
Android and iOS users should follow the steps below to split scenes:
- Tap on the scene to edit or on its Timeline bar, to see the split button (can be seen on the bottom menu). The split button looks like this (
).
- Drag the needle anywhere in the scene and click on the Split button.
- The scene will then be split into the remaining segment from where the needle was dragged to.
If the scene has a text box or sticker running through the entire scene, the text/sticker will be shown in both scenes after the split.
If there are multiple text boxes and stickers in the original scene, their appearance in each scene after the split will depend on where you split the scene and also how long they are shown in the original scene.
