One-time events are being gradually deprecated in order to simplify and improve streaming. Once the rollout is over, all events will be recurring events, which offer more functionality than one-time events. Please note, recurring events do not necessarily need to repeat, although the same event can be streamed to more than once.
You will get an email and in-product notification in advance before the change will apply to your account. While your transition to recurring events should be straightforward, we’ve listed a few situations in which you may need to change your workflow in order to adapt to recurring events.
In this article:
- Display archived event
- Missing contact forms
- Encoder can’t stream to recurring event
- Third party website won’t accept event URL
Display archived event
One-time events automatically display an archived event under the same link and embed code as the original event. To access the same feature for recurring events, you need to enable Show latest video. See instructions below:
- Go to Live events.
- Select a recurring event.
- Click the Appearance tab.
- Under the "pre-live" section, toggle on Show latest video.
Missing contact forms
While recurring events don’t offer the ability to add a contact form, you can use a webinar instead to access this feature.
Encoder can’t stream to recurring event
If you can’t find a recurring event in your encoder’s Vimeo integration, you can use the RTMP stream key to stream to a recurring event.
Third party website won’t accept event URL
If the website you’re working with won’t function with a recurring event URL, please try pasting a full event URL (e.g. https://vimeo.com/event/12345) into your website instead of just the event ID (e.g. 12345). If that doesn’t help, please contact us to let us know. Our team will reach out to the third party platform and request that they update their integration with Vimeo.
