To create a quiz experience using hotspots, you’ll first need to create a decision point within the content of your video for the viewer. For example, you can have a narrator or graphic propose a question or scenario in your video and use hotspots to allow viewers to select an answer.
Create a hotspot, then give your hotspot an action. This action should serve as the feedback to your viewer indicating that they have answered the question, such as whether or not they were correct. For instance, it could:
- Open an overlay that tells the viewer if they got the question correct or incorrect.
- Jump to a time in the video where you see the result or consequence of their answer play out.
- Fire a custom payload that triggered an action on your webpage or recorded the response to tell the player.
After adding your hotspot and assigning an action to it, you'll need to create your answer and assign each hotspot to a question and answer. Doing so will inform the data you pull from the quiz metrics.
- Find the point in your video you wish to add your hotspot answer and create your hotspot as normal, picking/creating a design, defining where it should be etc.
Note: The hotspot's action should give the viewer feedback as to whether or not they answered the question correctly (i.e. an overlay panel stating they are correct, or jump to a point in the video showing the results of their chosen answer). - In the Hotspot settings on the right side, scroll down and expand the section under "Is an answer to a quiz question."
- Click Question Manager.
- Type in your question, then click +Create Question. Click out of the menu when you are done.
- Select the question that this answer corresponds to.
- You’ll be prompted to fill out the answer name, assing the point value associated with this answer, and if this answer is correct or not.
- Repeat these steps for other hotspots connected to the same question. Be sure to mark at least one as the correct answer to properly track quiz performance.
