- When recording your screen, you can select from what's visible on your entire screen, a specific window, or a specific browser tab.
- Camera: Select which camera you would like to record (ex: your laptop’s built-in camera or an external webcam).
-
Microphone: Select which microphone you’d like to record (ex: an external microphone or your device’s built-in microphone)
- Audio playing on your device will be captured if you are recording the same screen.
- You can also turn off the microphone to ensure that the recording has no system sound.
- Upload settings: Select which specific folder on your account or to your team account you’d like to upload your recording to. Enterprise team members’ recordings will be uploaded to their private workspace on the team account.
- Additional settings: Select additional settings such as keyboard shortcuts.
How to record a video using the Chrome extension:
When you have selected the desired settings for your recording, select Start Recording to begin recording your video. Recordings are currently limited to 120 minutes.
An additional sub-menu will appear on the bottom left of your screen. If you are recording your camera, a preview of your camera view will display as well as the option to horizontally flip your camera.
The sub-menu contains controls to start recording/stop the recording, pause the recording, restart the recording, or delete the recording.
When you are done recording, select the Stop recording button (a red square) on the panel to the left of your screen. You can also choose to restart your recording or cancel/delete your recording.
When you’ve finished your recording it will be saved to your selected folder in your Library. Enterprise team members’ recordings will be uploaded to their private workspace on the team account.
The default privacy settings of recordings are Unlisted.
The default title of your recording will depend on what you recorded:
-
- If you only recorded your screen, the title will be the name of the tab you recorded
- If you only recorded your camera, or both the screen and camera, the title will be “New Recording" with the date and time.
Keyboard shortcuts
You may also use keyboard shortcuts to start and stop your recording. To view current keyboard shortcuts or to customize your keyboard shortcuts, select the settings gear in the Chrome extension and select the Shortcuts tab. Select Edit Shortcuts to edit them.
