While using the Record desktop app, you do not need to have a web browser open. The control menu can be completely minimized during recording so that it does not interfere with your content. Additionally, you can customize the shortcuts to navigate the app without opening the menu.

How to download the Record desktop app
You can download the Record desktop app here. Once you have downloaded the app, make sure to move it to the Applications folder on your computer.
To access the app, select the Vimeo icon 
Record a video via desktop app
To start recording, select the Start recording button on the main menu or the red record button on the panel to the left of your screen. You may also use a customizable desktop shortcut (i.e. Command + Shift + S) to start recording with the navigation menu minimized.

Navigate the Record desktop app
The main navigation menu will appear and disappear on the top right of your screen when you select the Vimeo icon from your menu bar or taskbar.
Here, you can choose from the option to record your screen, camera, or both and change your camera and microphone settings.
You may also select the folder icon to choose where you want your recording to be automatically saved.
Select the gear icon to see additional settings and to access the shortcuts menu.
You can navigate the app using the panel to the left to delete your recording, pause or stop recording, and start recording.
Customizable desktop shortcuts are also available to navigate while you record without needing the menu to be open on your screen.
Edit your Record video
Once your recording has finished uploading to your Vimeo account, you can edit it with Vimeo Create. If your recording is longer than 10 minutes, you will need to trim it first.
Desktop app shortcuts
The following default shortcuts are available using the Record desktop application:
- Start / stop: Command + Shift + S
- Pause / resume: Command + Shift + P
- Cancel: Command + Option + C
- Toggle user interface: Command + Option + H
To customize the shortcuts, click into the text box or press the ⓧ and start typing.
