In this article you'll find a breakdown of the privacy settings available for your videos. You can enable these settings on a per-video basis from your video's settings, or as a bulk task from the video manager. You can also set up upload defaults that will let you apply your desired settings to all current or future uploads.
Please note that if you make any changes to a video's privacy in an app (such as the Mevo app, Final Cut, iMovie, or the Vimeo app itself) that allows you to upload to Vimeo from a source other than Vimeo.com, any upload default settings you've set for your videos will be overridden. Any setting that is changed in an external app will take precedence over the upload defaults in the user's account settings.
Enabling domain-level privacy
With domain-level privacy, you can specify which websites are permitted to embed your video. Any sites that are not on your list will receive an error message when they attempt to embed it.
To set up domain-level privacy, head to video page and click the Settings button below the video player. From there, click over to the General tab, Privacy section. In the dropdown menu under the question “Where can this video be embedded?”, select “Specific domains,” then add the domain names for the sites where you'd like your video to be embedded. Don’t forget to save your changes!
- Main domain: mycoolsite.com
- Subdomains: subdomain.mycoolsite.com
Basic members will need to upgrade to Vimeo Plus, PRO, Business, or Premium membership to unlock domain-level privacy.
