How do I create a Vimeo account with my Apple ID?
You can create a Vimeo account using your Apple ID either on a desktop browser or via the Vimeo mobile app.
Create a Vimeo account via Apple ID using a desktop browser
- On vimeo.com, go to the upper right corner and select Log in.
- In the modal window that opens, you will see multiple login options. Choose Log in with Apple.
- Enter the email address associated with your Apple ID.
- Select Continue to confirm you wish to continue using Vimeo with your Apple ID.
- You will now have a Vimeo account connected to your Apple ID.
Create a Vimeo account via Apple ID using the Vimeo iOS app
- Launch the Vimeo or Vimeo Create iOS app.
- If using the Vimeo app, select the default avatar icon in the upper right corner, then select Join Vimeo before moving to step 3.
- Select Continue with Apple.
- You will see a prompt to create an account for Vimeo using your Apple ID. You may also see the option to Share my email or Hide my email. Learn more about this below or on Apple’s support site. Choose which one you prefer, then select Continue.
5. You will be logged into a Vimeo account via your Apple ID and can proceed with using the app.
Do I need to set a password for my Vimeo account if I signed up with Apple ID?
If you joined Vimeo using the "Sign in with Apple" feature, we recommend setting a password for your Vimeo account. This will allow you to perform certain actions on your account that require a Vimeo password.
This step will also ensure that you'll be able to maintain access to your Vimeo account separately from your Apple ID in the future.
To set a password:
- Go to your account settings.
- Click Password on the left sidebar.
- Click on the Change Password link.
You will be prompted to enter a new password and confirm it.
What happens if I select "Hide my email" when signing up with Apple ID?
When initially joining Vimeo via the "Sign in with Apple" feature on iOS, you can choose to share your email address with Vimeo or keep it private via the “Hide My Email” option.
In that case, we will only have access to a unique and randomized email address provided by Apple. Vimeo will not be aware of your personal email address.
If you choose to do this, all emails we send to you will be sent to the assigned private relay email address, and then forwarded to your personal email address. These emails may include critical account notifications and other email messages from Vimeo.

What happens if I change my private relay email address on Apple?
If you turn off email forwarding or change your private relay email address on Apple, you should first update your email address on Vimeo, or else you may lose access to your Vimeo account without any way of recovery.
To update the email address used to log into your Vimeo account:
- Go to your account settings
- Select Account on the left-hand side.
- Select Edit next to your private relay email address.

If I selected "Hide my email" at signup, can I switch to logging in with my email address and a password instead?
If you wish to log into Vimeo with your direct email address instead of your Apple ID, you will need to go to your account settings and edit your email address. This ensures we have your direct email address and that you will be able to log into your account using the same email address. This also allows us to quickly locate your account if you contact Support.
